The Lord Will Build A House

Hello, I’m Doyle Davidson, servant and apostle of the Lord Jesus Christ ministering locally to the Body of Christ in Dallas and Fort Worth, Texas, sent by God to your house to declare unto you the gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ.

1 Corinthians 15:3 and 4 tell us what the gospel is, how that Jesus Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures, he was buried, and he rose again the third day, according to the scripture.

The Spirit of the Lord is upon me because he has anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor, sent me to heal the broken hearted, preach deliverance to the captives, recovering of sight to the blind, set at liberty them that are bruised.

The word is nigh thee, even in your heart and in your mouth, that is the word of faith which I preach if you will confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead you shall be saved, for with the heart man believeth unto righteousness and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

I’m not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, it is the power of God unto salvation, to everyone that believeth, to the Jew first and also to the Greek, therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith, as it is written, the just shall live by his faith.

I think we will talk about a new sanctuary for Water of Life, but let’s have three songs first, and then we’ll talk.

Hallelujah! Kathie Davidson, how are you? [Kathie: Doing well.]

Well, I’m going to talk about God building or providing a new sanctuary for Water of Life. [Kathie: Amen.] First of all, I was born and raised in a family of Davidsons who liked nice things. They like nice clothes, everything they did, very nice. The Millers were some, [one] extreme and others, poverty got them. That was never easy for me to understand; poverty was never one of my problems. I could work, do things, make a little money but there was one thing I knew, well let me say this, I used to say, “Every serious or adverse situation is subject to change by noon.” That was my attitude; I wasn’t going to put up with half anything and people that worked with me knew it. So as a veterinarian I built my own hospital; I drew the plans and had it done by Dave Bloxom in Fort Worth, pre-fab, the first pre-fab vet hospital he ever did. Dave and I became pretty good friends.

Kathie: They did the pre-fab, they built it, but you were the one that came up with the plans.

I drew my own plans. They had two architects look at them and said, “Well, we can’t improve them.” I said, “Well then build it.”

It was to my thoughts, my specs, the way I wanted it to be. It was called an ultra-modern veterinary hospital, large animal surgery, small animal, I was not a small animal man, I could do some, but I was an equine man that was highly respected by colleagues.

Once I had a drug salesman who came through my office he trying to sell me some drugs and I said, “I really don’t use them.” He said, “Well I’ll tell you this, you’re in the minority, you’re in a small group of people that won’t use them.

I said, “Is that right? Well just who are they?”

“They’re the best equine men in the country that don’t use that product.”

Kathie: That don’t use that product.

That’s right. So that was my attitude, reputation, which is pride I’m sure but I had a very successful veterinary practice [that I] sold in 1970 at the direction of God and did what he told me to do. So when I came to Plano, God sent me, I fully expected to have a very top sanctuary, everything top of the line. I was willing to start on the bottom. I think any man not willing to start on the bottom will have to do some wicked things to get on top. That’s just the way I think.

So the Lord directed me to this building, it was for sale from the Church of Christ and it was on 2-1/2 acres and the building was 25 years old. I never thought I would stay in it when I bought it but I bought it in 1980; January 4th, 1981 we moved in. It is equipped [with] top of the line equipment, whatever I did, I did it with good equipment, but the building has been here a long time. I finally accepted, maybe God doesn’t want me to have a nice building. This is nice, it’s clean, its decorated well, but there is just so much you can do with anything. So, I pretty much gave up.

Back in 1990, I was going to build a new one, had the plans drawn, the whole thing. I was in the architect’s office one day and I’d spent, $30-$50,000 for plans. [Kathie: We still have them.] I still have them and the Lord said, “That’s the end of it.” I was going to build it on West Plano Parkway. Could have worked it out, wasn’t right so I gave up.

I’ve given millions of dollars to God’s people. I have given away 25 to 30 million dollars to ministries, [the] poor, but God’s people. I have given thousands to ministries that I didn’t approve of. I did it in obedience to God. One guy I gave money to once, wrote me a letter and said, “Man what an honor to get money like this from you.” I never told him, “I wouldn’t have sent if God hadn’t told me to.” I’ve overcome evil with good.

Romans 12:
20 Therefore if thine enemy hunger, feed him; if he thirst, give him drink: for in so doing thou shalt heap coals of on his head.
21 Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good.

I used to tell people at Water of Life, “Just because you get a chunk of money from me doesn’t mean God approves of you.” [Kathie: Amen.]

I’ve given much money to ministries that were certainly not upright with their dealings and I’ve overcome them, had to forgive them. A man walked up to me (if I told you his name you’d be shocked), he drove here, came in my office, he said, “Did you know you have the nicest employees of anybody I ever met?”

I said, “Is that right?”

He said, “Ya.”

He said, “Do you know why you have them?”

I said, “No, God gave them to me.”

He said, “Because that’s the way you are.” He started telling me about ministries that had ripped him off. “No integrity,” he said. I knew that. Thank God. But I just keep on walking.

Well, I’ve gone off TV after twenty-six years and I’m glad. This year I’ve been totally amazed at how the Lord has exalted me. Forty-seven years following God, fully following him, doing his will, but in December/January, things started to change at Water of Life; I didn’t know what God was going to do with me. I really didn’t know, but things started to change. My top with the ministry was three million [dollars] per year but I gave 1/2 of it away. I always paid my television, most of it in advance. But in January—read Psalm 142:

1 I cried unto the Lord with my voice; with my voice unto the Lord did I make my supplication.
2 I poured out my complaint before him; I shewed before him my trouble.
3 When my spirit was overwhelmed within me, then thou knewest my path. In the way wherein I walked have they privily laid a snare for me.
4 I looked on my right hand, and beheld, but there was no man that would know me: refuge failed me; no man cared for my soul.
5 I cried unto thee, O Lord: I said, Thou art my refuge and my portion in the land of the living.
6 Attend unto my cry; for I am brought very low: deliver me from my persecutors; for they are stronger than I.
7 Bring my soul out of prison, that I may praise thy name: the righteous shall compass me about; for thou shalt deal bountifully with me.

That came out in January, righteous compass me and they would see how deals bountifully with me. I have been more than eight years persecuted by the wicked, by my enemies, persecuted my soul brought my life down to the ground like a man long time dead, in great darkness. It’s been a long, long time, but I know I’m coming out, I know, I have to. I know Isaiah 35, God dealt with me about having a fearful heart, and the Lord is present with me now, he said, “I’m with you to help you, to bring you to victory,” and to exalt me, I know this. But I would like you to read some things that started taking place:

“Be bold, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. Many will come and hear your words. I will strengthen you and uphold you by the right hand(Jesus) of my righteousness.
Beware of false prophets for many will come saying who raised you up? And who gave you authority over us?”

“The time is near, look not right, look not to the left, but look straight ahead where the table is set and the time is now; believe the Lord your God and so shall you be established.”

I want to say, that one right there, almost slipped by me. Well I want to say, yesterday morning I woke up, it was hard, in fact I’m awake a lot, I’m awake every night 5 or 6 hours and it was so hard to pray and I kept praying and I broke through and it was like my mind was a different mind, my intellect had pushed off some tough oppression, hard oppression. I felt so good, so free, I thought, “Goodness sakes!” and I started thinking about a new sanctuary. I’m a thinker, I’m a builder, I’m an energetic, determined person that likes nice things; but I want them to come from the Lord. In the flesh I had them, I was blessed to raise the champion American Saddlebred. I forgot how many championships. [Kathie: I think it was twelve.] Twelve? That’s what I was thinking.

One man said to me, “Do you know you’ve done in one year what it takes forty years for most people to do?” I laughed, they didn’t know what they were doing. I did know something about horses. Nice things—I had two farms, one 50 acres and one 143 acres—one in Missouri and one in Texas. I wanted to make them show places. I didn’t get to, God took all that out of me, that desire, those desires. He didn’t take my ambition, he didn’t take my ability to see things that I like, but the Lord has just totally surprised me, but he said on May 22nd, “I chose you and I sent you to the four corners of the earth to speak my words and not despair or fear.”

My friends, I have to tell you, with the ministry that God has committed to me, it’s all written, with the honor that God has put upon my life I don’t believe it should be housed any longer in this building. You follow me? [Kathie: I follow you.] So, all the silver and all the gold, cattle upon a thousand hills, belong to the Lord. The glory of the latter house is going to be greater than the former house, that’s talking about Solomon and the Body of Christ. With that kind of ministry, that kind of honor before God, I think the Lord needs to honor himself by giving me a building, you understand me? [Kathie: Oh ya.] You know, I had some good horses and I worked on some of the best ones and a man or a woman that has a quality show horse most certainly will house them in a nice stable. I believe the Lord is saying “I’m going to build you one.”

I’m afraid to say too much but I’m going to say this. What I would consider, it may not be adequate, it may not be what God wants, but it certainly is in my heart and in my head, you hear me? [Kathie: yes.] I would like to have a sanctuary that would seat 1000 people and filled every time I was there. Theatre-style seating, beautifully decorated with a more conservative look than this building, I’m talking about the materials. [Kathie: you talked about a little bit lighter colors.] Lighter colors, more conservative colors and I’d like medium wood color, stained, no, I’d like painted wood. That’s pretty much what I wanted to say, I could say more, but when we get started, or when we know we are going to move forward with this, they will hear the rest.

Now, I would like Isaiah 35:

3 Strengthen ye the weak hands, and confirm the feeble knees.
4 Say to them that are of a fearful heart, Be strong, fear not: behold, your God will come with vengeance, even God with a recompence; he will come and save you.
5 Then the eyes of the blind shall be opened, and the ears of the deaf shall be unstopped.
6 Then shall the lame man leap as an hart, and the tongue of the dumb sing: for in the wilderness shall waters break out, and streams in the desert.

If the Lord’s going to do that kind of work through me, and he has for years, but in a greater manifestation, demonstrating great power—did you know the Lord told me twenty-five years ago, not to go back to the dentist? I had the best dentist for friends, twenty-five years, but you know I have two teeth in my head. I could have had the best mouth that a dentist could build, but I’m going to have the mouth that the Lord built. Any day he will put new teeth in my mouth, that is part of being saved, my eyes will be opened, 20/20 vision. I don’t have anything else wrong with me, my body is strong, healthy; I don’t take vitamins, any kind of medication, haven’t had any medication in my life for twenty-five years. Amen. I think the Lord would like to honor himself with a new house. Well, after all, he’s the one that is going to put the teeth in their mouth, he’s the one that’s going to heal the lame, the one that’s going to heal the blind and the dumb who can’t speak, the deaf, it’s his work. It needs to be done in a house that suits him and I don’t believe he would want me to stay with his work in this house much longer, that’s just where I’m at KD.

Hallelujah. I want to make one last statement. I would like a building, sanctuary that didn’t point to the building or to the man that operated in it, woman that operated in it, but would point to the man that laid his life down for all of us, left his home in heaven, knowing where he was going. He went to Golgotha and I’m going to say something to all of you, I have experienced some of Golgotha in the past nine years. But I would like for him to be glorified and everybody that came, when they left, they wouldn’t talk about my facility but they would talk about the work that the man Jesus did in their presence.
