Entering The 38th Year of Preaching the Gospel Publicly in North Texas

Transcribed and edited from:
Saturday Dec. 31, 2016 11:00 AM Livestream Broadcast

Hello, I’m Doyle Davidson servant and apostle of the Lord Jesus Christ ministering locally to the Body of Christ in Dallas and Fort Worth, Texas and sent by God to your house to declare unto you the gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ.

1 Corinthians 15:3-4 tell us what the gospel is, how that Jesus Christ died for our sins, according to the scripture, he was buried, he rose again the third day, according to the scripture.

The Spirit of the Lord is upon me because he has anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor, sent me to heal the brokenhearted, preach deliverance to the captives, recovery of sight to the blind, set at liberty them that are bruised.

The word is nigh thee, even in your heart and in your mouth, that is the word of faith which I preach, if you’ll confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God hath raised him from the dead you shall be saved, for with the heart man believeth unto righteousness and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

I’m not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God unto salvation to everyone that believeth, to the Jew first and also to the Greek for therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith, as it is written, the just shall live by his faith.

I want to welcome everyone to this broadcast receiving it on livestream Roku, AppleTV, YouTube and other devices.

Kathie Davidson my co-host on my left, good morning.

Kathie: Good morning.

How are you?

Kathie: Doing well.

I want to say before we open any further, tomorrow will be the beginning of thirty-eight years that I’ve preached the gospel in North Texas.

I received my charter, Seed of Abraham Ministries in January [1980] and it’s still Seed of Abraham Ministries, but Water of Life Church of Plano, Inc., also, Doyle Davidson ministries, also.

I went to North Texas State University, Silver Eagle B Room and started preaching the gospel. I think that was a Friday morning and then Friday afternoon, and then Saturday morning, Saturday afternoon, and Saturday night in Bruce Hall, there I first taught, Jesus On The Cross. That’s amazing, you know that?

Kathie: Amen.

Tomorrow will be starting my thirty-eighth year preaching the gospel in North Texas. How are you Kathie D?

Kathie: Doing well.

You are?

Kathie: Ya.

Co-host, Kathie D. We’ve got two songs of Terry Mai recorded with Water of Life Boys; let’s have them and then we’ll have some scripture, then we’ll have Terre Brown with “One Day”.

Terry Mai and Water of Life Boys:
There Stood A Lamb
 Rise And Be Healed

Terre Brown’s going to come, minister a solo, but first Kathie Davidson’s going to read Ezekiel 36:

Ezekiel 36:

25 Then will I sprinkle clean water upon you, and ye shall be clean: from all your filthiness, and from all your idols, will I cleanse you.

26 A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh.

27 And I will put my spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes, and ye shall keep my judgments, and do them.

28 And ye shall dwell in the land that I gave to your fathers; and ye shall be my people, and I will be your God.

Clean water, you know what that is? That’s the gospel, what we preach, what we’ve been preaching all these years, death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ. It works in us, it will work in you if you’ll believe.

Terre Brown’s here, she’s going to do one of my favorite songs, first one that I heard back in the seventies in Argyle, one that really talked to me done by a country western singer, “One Day At A Time”.

January 1980, I received my charter, Seed of Abraham Ministries. That was a bold step for a veterinarian, real bold. But I was happy, I’d been a lay-speaker and a Sunday school teacher in the First United Methodist Church of McKinney since 1977.

Every step I took was with fear and trembling. Are you sure this is God? What makes you think God would send you to preach the gospel? Who do you think you are? Who has recommended you? What church has sent you? None. None, just Jesus. During February, March, April, May and June we did meetings all mostly in Collin County I think, where Plano, is at. We might have done one, I think we did, in Frisco, that’s Denton County, right”

Kathie: No, where you did it in Frisco is Collin County.

Very good. Well I think that is the only place we did it. That was 1980, how old was I? Forty-eight years old. I had sold my practice when I was thirty-seven. I’m doing all this with a mind that I hadn’t even thought what I was going to do. I was forty-eight, I’d been out of 121 [Veterinary Hospital] for ten years. Patti was not totally excited but somewhat. I remember one day I asked her a question. We were about to buy this building, (that was a few weeks later we started to buy) I said, “Pat what do you think about buying that building, Pitkin Creek Church of Christ?” Pat and I were more than just husband and wife, most of the time we were friends. And sometimes she would just shock me with her words. She said, “Doyle, God has not told us to do one thing that he didn’t pay for.” Did you hear that? [Kathie: Amen.] She’s in heaven but let me tell you, those were words that I needed to hear, there wasn’t anyone else.

Well, it wasn’t but a few days, a few weeks, I guess we attended a meeting in Boyles Middle School in Allen, I was doing a meeting there. I might not have the exact location on the right day, but if I’m not mistaken, John and Carol Ferguson were at that meeting and I know some horse people from Plano were there, John and Carol Delaporte, plus many, I don’t know how many.

But God was sending me to Plano, he had told me in April, when I was on 380, west of McKinney, west of Preston Road, “I want you to go to Plano and speak to the people of Plano.”

“What do I say?”

“Where Paul was at Antioch, read it and you’ll understand.”

Acts 11, Acts 13, Paul, Barnabas and three others at Antioch and they were prophets and teachers. I was a veterinarian, a lay speaker, a Sunday school teacher, a pulpit speaker in several of North Texas Conference United Methodist churches. They wanted me to go to seminaries, more than one, “The Methodist Church needs you.” It wasn’t God. I obeyed God, Dr. Wilson Canafax, a great friend of mine.

So we were told through Terre and Kathy Mai, about Faith Temple in Plano. Six families had started it; John Ferguson was pretty much the spokesman—Bob Buckner, Wallace Russell a good friend of mine, he’s in heaven, John’s in heaven, John Ferguson, Don Neblett, those days were days of new adventure. Stepping out to go to a city that God told me to go and speak to. He didn’t tell me to go there and preach; he said, “Go to Plano and speak to the people of Plano.” We’re in Plano right now.

Kathie: Amen.

Right?

Kathie: Amen.

I obeyed the word from the Lord, trusted him, and came to Plano. There I met with six families in Bob Buckner’s home, Judy fixed dinner for us. They wanted me to pastor Faith Temple and I said, “I’m sorry, Faith Temple is not a church.” I didn’t make any friends. I’ m a prophet and apostle and prophets build churches, they lay the foundation. This group didn’t have a foundation. They were all religious, all carnal, zealous to have a church, but not obey God. That night at Buckner’s house I told them, “I’m coming to Plano, God sent me, told me to come and you’re welcome to join me with your group if you want to, but it won’t be your church; it will be given to me, to my ministry, Seed of Abraham Ministries” and in November became Water of Life Church of Plano, Inc.

They had 165 members attending, they attended a building, a meeting place in east Plano, I forgot the name of it, and John Ferguson told them that I was coming to Plano, I had Seed of Abraham Ministries, I was forming a new one, Water of Life Church of Plano Inc. and if they wanted to join me, they could and about 125 of them walked out mad. That didn’t bother me, maybe not quite that many. God told me to come to Plano and speak to the people of Plano, not come here and pastor their church.

You see folks I knew who I was in the Lord and I didn’t doubt it. I grew up in religion. First I grew up in John Wesley Methodist Holiness with some solid people leading that group in southeast Kansas, northwest Missouri, Oklahoma, that would be northwest wouldn’t it? I’d left a lot behind me, I’d forsaken a lot and I at times had fear of forsaking 121 Veterinary Hospital but I believed it was God, I believed it was God that talked to me in 1969 and I told Pat my wife whose now in heaven, (we were married in 1952) “If I have made a mistake I’ll start another veterinary practice.” That eased her conscience a little. My relatives were after me, University of Missouri veterinarians were after me, “What’s happened to you?”

“I’m just doing what God told me.”

I’ll always be grateful to Dr. Ed Ebert, University of Missouri, he died in a tractor accident, in 1970. Ed was a great friend of mine. Gave me high recommendation as an equine practitioner potential, later offered me Director of Clinics, his job, University of Missouri, School of Veterinary Medicine. “Come up, get a Master’s, PhD and the position was mine”. He got killed in June 1970; broke my heart. I thought I probably was responsible for him dying, but I’m convinced he is with the Lord. I’m also convinced Hazel is with the Lord. Last time Pat and I saw Hazel she was in a nursing home, Columbia. I think that was 1977; we talked to her for ten minutes, she didn’t act like she heard anything. Finally I said, “Pat we must go.” We walked off and Hazel said, “Come back, I like honest people.” That was my reputation with her and Dr. Ebert.

Well, thank God. We were here in Plano and we bought this building. We paid for it, out of debt by 1985.

I just want to say to Plano, North Texas—you are my people, I preached the gospel to you. No one, no one ever preached the gospel to you, no one. They preached the word, they called it the gospel; just the word, they called it the gospel. If you would turn with me to Matthew 7:

21 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.

22 Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?

23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.

You know those verses, gave me much thought, much thinking, much praying, for two or three years, maybe more, I couldn’t understand them. One day I knew, Jesus said, the devil can’t cast out the devil. How could they cast out the devil and he’d say, I never knew you. It troubled me. I was a servant of God, I’d sold everything. Finally, back up to about, beware of false prophets:

15 Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves.

16 Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles?

17 Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit.

18 A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit.

19 Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire.

20 Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them.

You know those people are all false. You want to know why? Their heart’s not right, [Kathie: Amen.] You want to know why their hearts not right? They don’t have a revelation of the gospel and they never preach it. The world’s full of preachers that say their preaching the gospel, you have no revelation of it, I don’t know of any preacher that has a revelation of the gospel that I’ve heard, anywhere, not one.

Ezekiel Guti came to Water of Life from Africa. He and I talked more than once. One day I was taking him to the airport, he said, “You’re a very bold man.” I said, “Jesus Christ died for my sins, he was buried, he rose again the third day, according to scripture.” He said, “You’re a very bold man.” I said, “Jesus Christ died for our sins according to scripture, he was buried, he rose again the third day.” He said, “You’re a very bold man.” I said, “Jesus Christ died for our sins according to the scripture, he was buried and he rose again the third day, according to the scripture.” I never even looked at him, I just kept looking straight ahead.

Suddenly he said, “That’s the gospel, why don’t we preach it?” You know that was a great day in my life?

Kathie: Amen.

“Why don’t we preach it?”

You better know I thought, “I don’t know why you don’t preach it.” About a year later he called me from Zimbabwe, he said, “I’m going to tell you, I’m making 3000 one hour videos on “What Is The Gospel?” and giving them to my preachers. I said, “Thank God.”

Mark 16, I’m going to show you what you all do, every one of you, every one of you, whether you are in the grave or whether you are alive and you are a student of the one in the grave. They didn’t preach the gospel to you.

Mark 16:

14 Afterward he appeared unto the eleven as they sat at meat, and upbraided them with their unbelief and hardness of heart, because they believed not them which had seen him after he was risen.

15 And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.

16 He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.

17 And these signs shall follow them that believe;

Whoa, we’ll be back, but let’s read 1 Corinthians 15:1-4. Now I’m telling you people, you can shut me off, it doesn’t matter to me, I’ve been shut off by everybody in America. They don’t believe the truth, they don’t believe the bible, they don’t believe they could be wrong. Well, you haven’t heard the gospel unless you got it from me or one of the people that work with me. Alright-

1 Corinthians 15:

1 Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand;

2 By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain.

3 For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures;

4 And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:

That’s the gospel, that’s the gospel right there. In Romans 1:16 it says that’s the power of God unto salvation, to everyone that believeth, Jew first, also to the Greek. 1 Corinthians 4:19 and 20 says the kingdom of God is not word but power. 1 Thessalonians 1:5 Paul said, my gospel came not to you in word only but power, get that? Power. That’s the gospel, kingdom, power, Mark 1 says it, Matthew 10 says it.

Mark 16, these signs-

17 And these signs shall follow them that believe; in my name shall they cast out devils-

Wait a minute, believe what? The gospel.

[Kathie: Amen.]

That’s what has been preached, the gospel, the gospel, the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus, that’s the gospel, nothing else. So simple, that’s the gospel. You know what your problem is? You don’t have a revelation of it. Oh, the Lord preached this to me in Argyle I think in 1973. I was stunned. I thought, “No preacher, no preacher is preaching the gospel if this is the gospel.

Kathie: Amen.

Guess what they call gospel? Signs. Right?

Kathie: Amen.

Read it, these signs-

17 And these signs shall follow them that believe;

Believe what? Jesus died, he was buried, he rose again the third day, according to the scripture, 1 Corinthians 15. Those that have been around, I’ve been doing this going into my thirty-eighth year.

Kathie: Did you preach the gospel when you were a lay speaker at the Methodist Church?

Absolutely.

Kathie: And that was 1977?

1977, 1978, 1979, 1980-

Kathie: So that’s forty years.

Come on Kathie, help me. I know what that is, but that was not my ministry.

Kathie: That’s right, you were not chartered then, but you certainly were preaching it.

That’s right.

Kathie: You were preaching it back in 1974.

I started preaching it in Argyle. Kathie:

Right and frankly God called you as a minister to preach that gospel in 1974.

That’s right, in Jerusalem, June 16th. You see, I am absolutely sure of my calling. Sure, why? It’s in the bible. King James, NIV, Revised Standard, New American Standard, Amplified, where you at?

Kathie: I’m right here.

Let's go. You know, I really appreciate you. I do, you insert things that I need to have inserted in my speaking.

Kathie: That’s only because I’m a walking recording of what you’ve said since 1984.

You’re about right, come on.

17 And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils;

Whoa, the first thing if you believe the gospel you’ll do is cast out devils, that’s the first thing; that’s a sign of believing the gospel, a sign of believing the gospel; that’s not the gospel, that’s a sign, are you getting it? Next-

they shall speak with new tongues;

Oh, a sign. Tongues is a sign of the baptism of the Holy Spirit, it’s a sign; tongues a sign of the Holy Ghost, of baptized in the Holy Ghost, cast out devils. Did you know what else is a sign that you believe the gospel? Tongues. Did you know, I’m not sure where it’s at but I think it’s the tenth chapter of the book of Acts, where Peter went up and preached the gospel.

Can you get there?

Kathie: Let me see if I can find it.

It’s the last part of chapter 10. We’re going to do this.

34 Then Peter opened his mouth, and said, Of a truth I perceive that God is no respecter of persons:

35 But in every nation he that feareth him, and worketh righteousness, is accepted with him.

36 The word which God sent unto the children of Israel, preaching peace by Jesus Christ: (he is Lord of all:)

37 That word, I say, ye know, which was published throughout all Judaea, and began from Galilee, after the baptism which John preached;

38 How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him.

39 And we are witnesses of all things which he did both in the land of the Jews, and in Jerusalem; whom they slew and hanged on a tree:

40 Him God raised up the third day, and shewed him openly;

Kathie: He’s preaching the gospel.

That’s the gospel.

41 Not to all the people, but unto witnesses chosen before God, even to us, who did eat and drink with him after he rose from the dead.

42 And he commanded us to preach unto the people, and to testify that it is he which was ordained of God to be the Judge of quick and dead.

43 To him give all the prophets witness, that through his name whosoever believeth in him shall receive remission of sins.

44 While Peter yet spake these words, the Holy Ghost fell on all them which heard the word.

And what’d they do?

46 For they heard them speak with tongues,

Amen, see! It’s all in the bible unless you have a brain that’s dead, unless you’re prideful and stubborn and want to prove you’re right.

Kathie: Amen.

You know how I got what I got? The Lord taught me.

Kathie: Amen.

It’s all in the word.

Kathie: And that’s the very first thing you taught me when came here, sitting in the blue chairs, actually they were pews back then, but if you want to speak in tongues, you preach the gospel. If you want to cast out devils you preach the gospel. [Doyle: That’s right.] It all comes through the gospel.

That’s right!

Kathie: Right. Well I grew up where they would preach tongues. [Doyle: Right] And tongues didn’t happen. [Doyle: Right] They would just talk about the tongues. [Doyle: Right] When I came here it was totally different. One of the first messages I heard from you Mark 16, you preach the gospel and when you preach the gospel, that’s when you’ll speak in tongues.

That’s what Peter did.

Kathie: That’s exactly right here. [Doyle: Yes] And he goes on to say those who were obedient spoke in tongues.

You know one of the sad times in my ministry was right here in this building. I preached the gospel, didn’t affect anybody. None. I don’t know how many got baptized in the Holy Ghost in this place, whole bunch of them. I finally turned it over to John Ferguson. He’d go talk to them and they’d speak in tongues. But when I preach the death, burial and resurrection they didn’t speak in tongues at all. Why? Because they couldn’t hear the word. [Kathie: Amen] Couldn’t hear the gospel, didn’t have any ears.

Oh, you think I haven’t been disappointed? But the Lord has been with me, he paid for all of it. I never asked for money from anybody. Never. If you believe the gospel you’ll speak in tongues. [Kathie: Amen.] Magnify God and prophesy, that’s the 19th chapter of Acts. [Kathie: Amen]

Time to quit. Would you say? Did we prove what we had to? Speak in tongues, baptize in the Holy Ghost, lay hands on the sick, same thing happens.

Kathie: Right, you preach the gospel.

You preach the gospel, take up serpents, they won’t hurt you. Don’t play with snakes. Drink any deadly thing, it won’t harm you, why? Because the gospel is in you. I’m not afraid to eat, drink or anything else. I was once, in Mexico, I wasn’t sure what I ate.

Thank God, no other name under heaven, just one, Jesus Christ of Nazareth, no other name, Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whereby one must be saved. Thank God. God is giving you the grace and the faith to be saved, speak Jesus and be saved. Jesus, Jesus, Jesus…God bless.
