Luke 4:18 The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised...

A Work of Righteousness - 1995

Continuing in the Work

But whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty, and continueth therein, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed. James 1:25

Lester Sumrall’s Second Visit. God directed me to invite Lester Sumrall to minister again at Water of Life Church. When I called his office, his secretary said he did not have any open dates. But she did say he was coming in from Israel just before Thanksgiving and she would ask him if he would consider coming to Water of Life then. His reply was yes, he would be here the Sunday evening after Thanksgiving. After he ministered, Lester, his son Frank, Terry Mai, and I went out to have something to eat. We had a very good time of fellowship for about an hour and a half. Lester then asked if I would have breakfast with him the next morning. The four of us met again for another good time of fellowship then I drove him to the McKinney airport.

As we were driving Lester began sharing with me about two well-known ministries where he had taught in their facilities. The first situation began as a conversation he had with a minister, his wife, and daughter. While they were standing together the man asked Lester if he would come back every six months to minister, but his wife said in the presence of them all, “Every three years would be too much for me.” After a year Lester hadn’t heard from this preacher and he called him. He asked the minister if he had done anything to offend him. The man replied, no, my wife and daughter don’t want you to come back. Lester questioned, “Doyle, that’s the Jezebel isn’t it?” “Yes sir,” I replied, “that is the Jezebel.”

The other event he related to me was a incident where he was talking to another well-known minister in his office. After a little while the man’s wife walked by and gave the pastor “the look” that Lester was familiar with. This happened about three times and then the wife came by again and spoke to her husband, “It’s time to go to work!” The pastor asked Lester if he would like to go with him, but Lester replied “No, I’m going to my hotel room and pray.” Lester then said to me, “Doyle, that’s the Jezebel isn’t it?” “Yes sir,” I repeated, “that is the Jezebel.”

Lester had heard me talk and God had certainly showed him what these women were. These two ministers have very prominent organizations in our country. Yet they are married to a Jezebel. Understand a Jezebel is a woman described in II Kings 9:22:

And it came to pass, when Joram saw Jehu, that he said, Is it peace, Jehu? And he answered, What peace, so long as the whoredoms of thy mother Jezebel and her witchcrafts are so many?

Notice this woman Jezebel operated whoredoms and witchcrafts. The spirit filled and non-spirit filled ministries are full of these women. I’ve met many of them.

Lester’s heart was grieved and sorrowed, as mine was, in these serious situations. We both felt the same way because of what harm these ministries do to God’s people. Lester and I were certainly one in the Spirit.

When we arrived at the airport Lester looked at me and said, “Why don’t you get on the plane and go with us to Phoenix?” I told him I just couldn’t do it, I was responsible for my work here.

Inviting Other Ministries to Speak. Our ministry had been covering the world with television and short wave radio for several years. We invited other ministers to speak in this venue; Marcus Lamb of Daystar Television of Bedford, Texas; Allen Jackson of World Outreach Church, Murfreesboro, Tennessee; and Charles Simpson of Charles Simpson Ministries, Mobile Alabama.

Thanksgiving Meal in Tulsa. God directed us to provide a Thanksgiving Meal at the Southern Hill Marriott in Tulsa, Oklahoma. I believe around 300 attended the dinner. We had a full course holiday feast that the ministry paid for at about $22 a plate, God providing the money. It was a great time of fellowship and worship afterwards.

Water of Life expanded our radio ministry in March by adding two more ministries on KPBC. The ministers were Donnie Cauthorn and Michael Enriquez.

We continued to conduct the Gospel Crusades in South Bend, Tulsa, and Houston. We purchased a meal at each crusade for those who wanted to come.

Water of Life Ministries continued distributing tapes free of charge. 31,400 tapes were given away during 1995.

Our jail ministry continued on the third Sunday of each month. We certified three new chaplains.

Building improvements included the resealing and restriping of our parking lot in December.

Our Mission distributed $60,200 of food for the year.
