Repent and Believe the Gospel

Transcribed and edited from:
Friday, 11:00 AM Nov. 6, 2015 Livestream Broadcast

Hello, I’m Doyle Davidson, servant and apostle of the Lord Jesus Christ ministering locally to the Body of Christ in Dallas and Fort Worth Texas and sent by God to your house to declare unto you the gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ.

1 Corinthians 15: 3 and 4 tell us what the gospel is;

How that Jesus Christ died for our sins, according to the scriptures, he was buried, he rose again the third day according to the scriptures. Amen.

The Spirit of the Lord is upon me because he has anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor, sent me to heal the broken hearted, preach deliverance to the captives and recovery of sight to the blind, and set at liberty them that are bruised. Thank God.

I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, it is the power of God unto salvation to everyone that believeth, to the Jew first and also to the Greek, for therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith, as it is written, the just shall live by his faith. Amen, thank God.

I want to welcome everyone to this broadcast, receiving it Livestream, Roku, YouTube or other devices.

Paul Peters, my co-host on the set with me, good morning.

I’m still looking for some direction in the Spirit of what we’re to do, thank God. Mark chapter 1, Jesus came into Galilee preaching what?

Mark 1:

14 Now after that John was put in prison, Jesus came into Galilee, preaching the gospel of the kingdom of God,

15 And saying, The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: repent ye, and believe the gospel.

 Did you know that the first words of Jesus when he came into Galilee was, change your mind, your will, (the word is nous) what you’re believing and believe the gospel. I just told you what the gospel was, 1 Corinthians 15: 3 and 4 tell us, Paul would you read 1 Corinthians 15:1-4 so we can shut the mouths of the gainsayers.

1 Corinthians 15:

1 Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand;

 By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain.

 For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures;

 And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:

 The gospel; and if you continue believing, you’re saved, made sound; that’s what “saved” is. The word is Greek sózó maybe it says safe, been several sears since I taught this, safe. Joel 2:32 says, “…whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be delivered…

 32 And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be delivered: for in mount Zion and in Jerusalem shall be deliverance, as the Lord hath said, and in the remnant whom the Lord shall call. (Joel 2)

 …delivered from whatever state you’re in to a safe state. Amen. So Jesus coming into Galilee, he’s our example. He taught, first of all repent ye and believe the gospel, those were his beginning words—his beginning words, “Repent ye and believe the gospel.” The word believe is: rely on, adhere to, trust in. I heard Billy Graham say that once on television, that’s the meaning of the word believe. Thank God. That word trust, well maybe you can make it say something different—adhere to, rely on…”adhere to”. What are you going to do with that word? Adhere to the gospel. The gospel: the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ; that doesn’t say once saved, always saved, that says you’re saved if you continue. Is that what that says? Let’s read it again.

 1 Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand;

By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you,

 Did you know there’s an “if” there? Do you know there’s an “If”, you’re saved  IF you keep in memory? Does that sound like “adhere to,” rely on,” “ trust in?” Well yes, trust and rely on and adhere to, means you can’t go away from it. You adhere to it and you’re saved. Now folks I was raised in religion, John Wesley Holiness Methodists. Yes, John Wesley taught holiness, yes he taught sanctification; he taught perfection. Thank God. Thank God.
Now in John 15:1-8, (This is Jesus speaking):

John 15:

I am the true vine, and my Father is the husbandman.

Every branch in me that beareth not fruit he taketh away: and every branch that beareth fruit, he purgeth it, that it may bring forth more fruit.

Now ye are clean through the word which I have spoken unto you.

Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me.

I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.

Much fruit. When he came into Galilee he told us what to believe. Now, the Apostle Paul writing to the church at Colosse Chapter 1, lets read and see what brings forth fruit:

Colossians 1:

1 Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the will of God, and Timotheus our brother,

To the saints and faithful brethren in Christ which are at Colosse: Grace be unto you, and peace, from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.

We give thanks to God and the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, praying always for you,

Since we heard of your faith in Christ Jesus, and of the love which ye have to all the saints,

For the hope which is laid up for you in heaven, whereof ye heard before in the word of the truth of the gospel;

Which is come unto you, as it is in all the world; and bringeth forth fruit, as it doth also in you...

The gospel brings forth fruit. Okay, that’s clear enough, I can’t say it any better; if I said it fifteen times it wouldn’t affect one person.

..since the day ye heard of it, and knew the grace of God in truth:

7 as ye also learned of Spraphras our dear fellowservant, who is for you a faithful minister of Christ;

8 Who also declared unto us your love in the Spirit.

Jesus preached the gospel. Paul said you’re saved if you continue to believe it. Jesus said, you can’t do anything without him. You bear much fruit because he is the true vine. The gospel is what produces the fruit. Jesus Christ preached the gospel, walked in the gospel, lived in the gospel, trusted in the gospel, adhered to the gospel when he was going to the cross, when he was on the cross, when he went to hell, when he rose again the third day, thank God, and got the name Jesus. He earned that name by overcoming hell and death. Now, this is all you need to believe, but then you need to be taught the knowledge of God, believing the gospel.

Would you read Colossians 1 and 2 again?

1 Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the will of God, and Timotheus our brother,

To the saints and faithful brethren in Christ which are at Colosse: Grace be unto you, and peace, from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.

We said it, the word has been spoke, been established, two or three witnesses have heard it. Would you agree? [Amen]

Under heaven, there’s just one name, one name whereby one must be saved, just one name, earned by being obedient--not the sacrifice—obedience. He earned the name, obedient to the death of cross; He earned it. The death of cross wherefore God hath highly exalted him and given him a name above every name.* Oh, is that cool? No one else went there, just Jesus. He got that name by obedience, even to the death of the cross, the will of the Father. The name of Jesus—no other name under heaven whereby one must be saved, but Jesus and faith in the name of Jesus. Faith in the name of Jesus, you’ll be saved, you’ll be born again, be one in the Spirit with the Lord, receive Christ Jesus in your heart by believing with faith, which is a free gift given unto you.

Repeat Jesus after me, Jesus, Jesus Jesus…

God bless.

* Philippians 2

And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.

Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name:
