I am a servant of God and I walk with Doyle Davidson, a servant and
apostle of the Lord Jesus Christ. I am on staff at Water of Life Church,
Inc. in Plano, Texas as writer, researcher and publisher. In my
research I recently came across a quote of Reverend Billy Graham from
one of his meetings during the 1949 Greater Los Angeles Revival and it
is as follows:
"When God gets ready to shake
America, He may not take the Ph.D. and the D.D. God may choose a
country boy. … God may choose the man that no one knows, a little
nobody, to shake America for Jesus Christ in this day, and I pray that
He would!"
Reverend Billy Graham may have
been speaking of himself when he talked about God using a country boy,
however when I read this quote I was immediately reminded of a country
boy from Southwest Missouri, the son of a contractor, who God called as
an apostle and prophet of the Lord Jesus Christ. He did have a Doctorate
in Veterinary Medicine, but God told him to tear it up. When he was
entering veterinary school, the Lord visited him in a powerful way and
said, “I don’t want you to be a veterinarian, I want you to be a minster of the gospel,”
and Doyle has often said that he didn’t obey God and went on to became a
successful equine veterinarian, because he didn’t believe.
I
mentioned Billy Graham’s statement to Doyle, telling him that I was
reminded of him. At Doyle’s request I am publishing a letter that the
Lord directed him to send to the Reverend Billy Graham on March 14,
1991:
“March 14, 1991
Reverend Billy Graham1201

Dear Reverend Graham:
The
Lord has spoken to me and has directed me to say to you that you have
acted wickedly concerning His commission. In Mark 16:15-18, Jesus told
the eleven:
...Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.
He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.
these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues;
They
shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall
not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.
Jesus
told the eleven to preach the gospel, and that he who believes the
gospel and is baptized shall be saved. That is the commission—preach the
gospel.
Three days after God spoke to
me, I watched you on television, at a New York crusade, I believe. I
remember that you said that a person must do three things to be saved:
repent of his sins; receive Jesus by faith; and obey Him. It is true
that a person who is saved will do these three things, but these three
things are not the gospel, and they will not bring you salvation.
I
Corinthians 15:1-4 says that the gospel is that Jesus died, He was
buried, and He rose again, and that you are saved by that if you keep it
in memory. Until you believe the gospel, you cannot repent of your
sins, you cannot receive Jesus by faith, and you cannot obey Him.
You
cannot repent of your sins until you believe the gospel, because it is
the Spirit of God that leads you to repentance. You cannot receive Jesus
by faith until you believe the gospel, because according to Romans
10:16-17, faith comes by hearing the gospel. You cannot obey Jesus
until you believe the gospel, because you obey Him by believing, or
obeying, the gospel.
Romans 1:16 says
that the gospel of Christ is the power of God unto salvation to everyone
who believes—to the Jew first and also to the Greek. In Romans 1:9,
Paul said that he served God with his spirit in the gospel. You serve
God by believing in your spirit that Jesus died, He was buried, and He
rose again, and by believing that that is the power of God unto
salvation.
Jesus said to preach the
gospel. Until you believe the gospel in your spirit, you cannot be
saved. And Jesus says that unless the signs described in Mark 16:17-18
follow you, you do not believe the gospel.
In Matthew 28:19-20, Jesus told the eleven disciples:
Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:
Teaching
them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I
am with you alway, even unto the end of the world.
Jesus
told the apostles to teach, or make disciples, or Christians, of all
nations and to teach them to observe all things He had commanded the
apostles. That is the commission.
Matthew 10:8 tells one of the things Jesus commanded the twelve:
Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out devils: freely ye have received, freely give.
If you do not teach people to observe these things, you are not obeying Jesus, and you are not fulfilling His commission.
God would have you consider Psalm 50:16-17:
But
unto the wicked God saith, What hast thou to do to declare my statutes,
or that thou shouldest take my covenant in the mouth?
Seeing thou hatest instruction, and castest my words behind thee.
God
says that those who hate instruction and cast His words behind them are
wicked. He says that they have no right to declare His statutes or take
His covenant in their mouth. In II Timothy 3:16, Paul said:
All
scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for
doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:
God
has given you these scriptures for reproof, correction and instruction
in righteousness. I Corinthians 3:13 tells us that every man's work will
be made manifest on the day of judgment. If you will receive these
scriptures and profit by them, your work may not be burned on that day.
In His Service
Doyle Davidson,
Servant and Apostle of Jesus Christ”
The
well known ministers and evangelists of the United States have barely
acknowledged Doyle’s ministry in the forty-one years he has been obeying
God. He wasn’t a theologian—hadn’t been to seminary and he wasn’t
preaching to stadiums packed with people. He was just a country boy, a
veterinarian from the University of Columbia, Missouri, a novice in
their eyes, and they were offended at his honesty, because he told the
truth.
In the 90’s, God took this “veterinarian turned
preacher” and put him on twenty-five television stations, five days per
week at one time and shortwave radio five days a week throughout the
world. He was on LeSea Television and LeSea short-wave radio throughout
the world. He paid for every airing in advance, and he was told by
producers that no other ministry operated that way. He was removed from
stations because he preached the doctrine of Jesus Christ, never because
of lack of payment.
Untold numbers have experienced the
power of God through this ministry; the signs spoken of in Mark 16 do
follow him and those that walk with him. So by the words of Reverend
Billy Graham, “God may choose a country boy…to shake America for Jesus
Christ’s sake…” I believe He is.
And to quote Doyle: “The reason God is shaking America is because they have rejected the gospel.”
God Bless,
